ADDICTED TO LIFE

POLA RAPAPORT is a New York-based writer, director, and editor. She has just completed “ADDICTED TO LIFE”, a feature documentary on Marieke Vervoort.

Strong-willed, funny and charismatic, at 37, Belgian athlete Marieke Vervoort’s time is running out. As her strength falters and her body begins to fail, she determines to end her life with the help of her doctors. Liberated by the legal permission to die, Marieke rediscovers the freedom and thrill of living and competing, and becomes a Paralympic champion. Her acceptance of death becomes an affirmation of life. Marieke demystifies one of the most controversial issues of our time.

Rapaport’s earlier films include: “Nadia Comaneci: The Gymnast and the Dictator” (2016), “Hair: Let the Sun Shine In”, (2007); “Writer of O,” (2004), “Family Secret,” (2000) Grand Prix de la S.C.A.M., “Blind Light,” (1998) and “Broken Meat,” (1990) et al. NYC Women’s Fund, Flemish Film Fund, NYSCA and King Baudouin Foundation grants; Guggenheim, NYFA & Yaddo Fellowships, Emmy nominee. NYU Tisch School of the Arts Undergraduate Film School faculty. USA/France dual citizen.
